Preparing for a trip

I hate packing. No, more like I loathe packing. But with going out of town every, single weekend in June and most of the weekends in July it's inevitable.  Unless I want to wear the same thing over and over.

My mom had this saying growing up, "Keep your work area neat and clean."

This simple saying has been embedded into me and every time I go to start a project I have to first clean.  Trying to make dinner is just annoying.  Usually, cooking requires me to thoroughly clean my kitchen, which can take an hour or so and by that point I don't feel like cooking anymore. I end up spending most of my meals eating out, which isn't too hot on the ole pocketbook.

Packing, what another catastrophe.  Usually involves me catching up on all of laundry.  Basically, I end up washing my sheets.  Can someone tell me why do I need to wash my bedding just to pack clothes? It's not like I'm going to take my bedding with me.  It makes no sense.  Also, I have to clean my house, including rooms that do not have clothes in them like my office and family room..

It's frustrating.

Why am I talking about cleaning, packing, and cooking?  Well my family and I are taking our first vacation in about 6 years.  We leave in about 2 weeks and I already need to start packing for the trip.  Sure it seems that it's too early to start packing now, and it is too early; however, I have to clean my place from top to bottom before I can even pull out the suitcase.

Any solution to break this habit would be greatly appreciated.

For now, I will be spending each night this week cleaning a room in my house. I will smell like comet and bleach for days and will probably have a headache from all the chemicals.

Maggie's Introduction

I would like to introduce Maggie Mai, a terrier mix that I adopted over 2 years ago.  Some say that I am obsessed with my dog, but other animal lovers think it's completely normal.

Favorite toys include:
-stuffed animals that can be destroyed in seconds
-toys with squeakers
-my socks
-the flyers that fall out of magazines when I'm flipping through them

iPhone Photos

My cousin got married in Hawaii a few weeks back and last Saturday my family invaded Arkansas for the reception.  I rode with my sister, which just basically means that we were up for any adventure (including a stop at the Natural Bridge).  I was the passenger in the car, so I had a chance to take a lot of pictures of the drive and I even took some of the reception.  Here are my favorites!

Welcome

Thanks for coming to my new blog.  You can still check out my old blog here.  I decided that it was time to revamp my writings and the direction I wanted my blog to go.  So, I figured the best way was to start with a clean slate.

I am only going to write about what interests me, my hobbies, things that strike my fancy, and my family.  The issue with my last blog is that I felt pressure to have a daily post or constantly be creative.  Let's face it, not all of us are creative every second of every day.  I have to hand it to those that are, but that's not me.  Also, I don't have time for refurbishing a bookcase or chair each week.  I'm lucky to get a project done in one year.

Things that interest me (and subsequently, what this blog will mainly be about):

-traveling with family and friends
-my dog, Maggie
-school
-interesting articles about fashion and interior design
-marketing and advertising
-my dreams of owning a clothing store, what I am working towards

I will be working on this in my spare time, which lately hasn't been that often, and will slowly get the blog up and going.
